2 lanes on Palani rd in North Kona will close for 24 hours

The mauka and makai lanes on Palani rd will close between Queen Ka’ahumanu highway and the Henry street intersection (except for emergency vehicles) beginning 6:00 P.M. Friday, February 24 to 6:00 P.M. Saturday, February 25. This is to provide for continued construction of the Ane Keohokalole highway linking Palani rd and Kealakehe Parkway to Hina Lani street. The intersection at Henry street & Palani rd will remain open during road construction.

The mauka-bound lane will remain closed from Queen Ka‘ahumanu highway to Henry street until March 23. No right turns allowed on to Palani rd from the Queen Ka‘ahumanu intersection until further notice

Traffic signals upgraded at at the Hawai‘i Belt rd and Kea‘au Pāhoa rd intersection

Special off-duty police officers will be directing traffic at the Hawai‘i Belt rd and Kea‘au Pāhoa rd intersection in Kea‘au Saturday, February 11 between the hours of 8:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Traffic signal control cabinets will be upgraded and signals will be turned off during this time. Motorists are asked to use Old Volcano Rd and avoid the intersection.

Single lane closures between Mana rd and Puu Nani drive in Waimea

Alternating single lane closures will be in effect weekdays, between the hours of 8:30 A.M. and 3:00 P.M. to repair the roadway pavement on Māmalahoa hwy between Mana rd and Puu Nani drive in Waimea, South Kohala beginning February 21 through May 2012. William C. Loeffler Construction Inc. is the contractor.

No right turns from Queen Kaahumanu Hwy on to Palani Rd as of Tuesday

The mauka-bound lane will be closed from Queen Ka‘ahumanu Highway to Henry Street for up to two months. No right turns allowed on to Palani Rd from the Queen Ka‘ahumanu intersection. Motorists are asked to use Henry Street starting Tuesday.

Only right turns will be allowed on to Palani Rd from Henry Street starting this afternoon. This will be in effect up to two months. Signs will be posted on Henry St before the U-Turn alerting motorists of no left turns at the intersection.

Curb Ramp construction at Kauhale St & Pahoa Village Rd in Puna

Construction begins tomorrow, Wednesday, January 18^th, on a curb ramp at the intersection of Kauhale Street and Pahoa Village Road in downtown Pahoa to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Ludwig Construction, Inc. was awarded the $16,000 construction contract. The project has 20 consecutive working days; excluding weekends, furlough Friday and is expected to be completed by February 15, 2012.

Kamakaeha Street will close Jan 18-Feb 18, 2012.

1,900 feet of Kamakaeha Street will close from January 18 to February 18, 2012. Motorists are asked to use Makala Blvd from Queen Ka’ahumanu intersection to and from Makalapua Center.

The 24- hour road closure is to reconstruct the intersection between Kamakaeha Ave and Palani Rd (opposite the Fire Station).
